Solo at Disney World: Why You Absolutely Should Do It!

I recently did something I never thought I’d do — I went to Magic Kingdom all by myself.
Not gonna lie… I was a little nervous.
Disney is supposed to be shared with your partner, your besties, your kiddos — right? It felt a little selfish, a little strange. Would people stare? Would they feel sorry for me?
Well, I’m here to tell you… it was INCREDIBLE.
John had some work to catch up on, so he stayed back at the resort (we were staying at the Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs — and yes, that stay definitely deserves its own post, coming soon!). Meanwhile, I hopped on a bus over to Magic Kingdom for my solo adventure.
First Stop: Dole Whip & People Watching
The very first thing on my agenda? A Dole Whip. Obviously.
I found a shady spot near the Magic Carpets of Aladdin and just watched the magic unfold. It was later in the day, so the kiddos around me were in that second wind — pure excitement and joy. Families were rushing to claim their parade spots, laughter and music were everywhere, and I just soaked it all in. A cast member named Rosie was changing a trash liner nearby and asked how I was doing. I told her, “I’m doing SO good — I mean, look where I’m at?” and she smiled and said, “I get to come almost every day!” She was so sweet, and it was one of those small Disney moments that just makes your heart full.
Pirates, Haunted Mansions, and Happy Tears
After my Dole Whip, I headed to one of my absolute favorites — Pirates of the Caribbean. That smell — if you know, you know. Then it was off to Haunted Mansion, another classic I can never skip. Since most people were watching the parade, the wait times were short, and I even had my own Doom Buggy! I was so giddy I forgot to pose for the ride photo. Oops!
Sweet Treats & Fireworks
Next stop: my all-time favorite Magic Kingdom snack — the Nutella and fruit waffle from Sleepy Hollow. I grabbed one, found a quiet spot, and waited for the Happily Ever After fireworks. Did I cry? Yes. Every. Single. Time. - Not as much as I do when I watch Luminous at Epcot, but, yeah.
Tangled Bathroom Break & Parade Dreams
After a quick pit stop at the Tangled rest area (can we please get more Tangled representation? A Snuggly Duckling Tavern would be amazing, right?), I found a bench and parked myself for a good 30 minutes — waiting patiently (well, trying to). Finally, the “Starlight Parade” rolled through, and it was everything. The lights, the music, the nostalgia — I was completely swept up. And yes… I cried again.

The Moral of the Story
Take. The. Solo. Trip.
I’m seeing more and more solo adventurers at Disney lately, and now I totally understand why. There’s something freeing about exploring the parks on your own — no schedules to follow, no compromises, no waiting on anyone but yourself. Just pure, unfiltered Disney magic. If you’ve ever thought about doing a solo Disney trip, this is your sign. Trust me — it might just be one of the best experiences you ever have. And if you need help planning your magical solo adventure… you know who to call 😉
